What Is Stress?
The google definition: a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. Our definition: pure misery. There is so much going on in our lives that it can overwhelm us at times. Seeing no easy way out of our predicaments, we breakdown and start panicking. A lot of us experience this everyday, whether it may be a student, a part-time worker, or a full-time worker.
Regardless of age, sex, ethnicity and religion, no one is immune to the burdens of stress. Statistics demonstrate the widespread prevalence of this state of mind.
According to The American Institute of Stress:
- About 33 percent of people report feeling extreme stress
- 77 percent of people experience stress that affects their physical health
- 73 percent of people have stress that impacts their mental health
- 48 percent of people have trouble sleeping because of stress

Controlling Stress
Some factors that could be causing your stress:
- Aren’t able to manage your workload
- Relationship problems (friends, family, boss, etc.)
- The hassle of going to work.
- Exhaustion or fatigue
Some methods that can help decrease stress:
- Create a specific schedule in order to balance the workload
- Hang out with your friends and family so that they don’t feel bored, even if it’s for a short amount of time
- Try to keep good relations with your boss (he/she is the one who pays you after all!)
- Take a break every now and then; whether it’s for having lunch, interacting with your colleagues, or just to take a deep breath and think over your current situation.
